New design, more modern and impressive
First is the design: Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have changed significantly compared to the old Pixel 5 or Pixel 4. It can be called its design revolution, making the phone look more advanced and modern. 120Hz curved screen on the Pro version
In terms of screens, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro both have OLED screens. However, the Pixel 6 is a 6.4-inch flat screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the Pro version will be more advanced with a beautiful 6.7-inch curved edge-to-edge screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Pixel 6 Pro also uses LTPO technology, optimizing the scanning frequency from 10Hz to 120Hz, suitable for each task, effectively saving battery.
Powerful Tensor Processor Developed by Google
There are so many new points on this 2021 Pixel. Google has brought its first self-developed processor, Tensor. The processor is manufactured on a 5nm process, 8 cores with 2 high-performance cores, 2 average performance cores, and 4 power-saving cores. It comes with Mali-G78 MP20 GPU graphics. Google says its new Tensor processor can compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888.
The RAM and internal storage options of the Pixel 6 series include 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB ROM for the Pixel 6, while the Pixel 6 Pro has 12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB ROM. Unfortunately, Google does not integrate memory card expansion on the Pixel 6 series.
Outstandingly improved camera
In terms of camera, Pixel 6 also has a remarkable improvement. Google has finally switched to a new camera sensor after using the previous sensor for four generations in a row. Both Pixels have a 50MP main sensor, which encodes a 12.5MP image. It is a much larger sensor than the old sensor. Even bigger than the iPhone 13 Pro’s new camera sensor. In addition, this 50MP main sensor also comes with a pixel density of 1.2 um, supports OIS optical stabilization, f/1.85 aperture. It helps the phone capture 150% more light than the Pixel 5’s camera, Google says.
Besides, there is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 114-degree angle, f/2.2 aperture, and 1.25um pixels. The Pro version will receive an additional 48MP telephoto camera, 4x optical zoom capability.
New features are available on the Pixel 6 series, such as Face Unblur (reduces blur), Magic Eraser (removes unwanted objects), and Real Tone (better skin tones).
The front camera is also different between the standard and Pro models. The Pixel 6 has an 8MP selfie camera, and the Pixel 6 Pro is 11.1MP (94-degree angle). That means the Pixel 6 Pro will get a wide angle and capture more people.
For video, both phones shoot up to 4k 60fps, support auto HDR, and shoot 240fps slo-mo video at 1080p.
Battery capacity and other points
The Pixel 6 has a 4614mAh battery, and the Pixel 6 Pro has a 5,004mAh battery. Both support 30W fast wired charging, fast wireless charging (21W on Pixel 6 and 23W is Pixel 6 Pro using Pixel Stand), and reverse wireless charging. However, in the box, Google will not give an extra charger inside.
The phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. In addition, the Pixel 6 series is also optimally protected by the IP68 water/dust resistance standard. In particular, the phone is also supported with security updates for five years.
